User ID and Password Changes
Set up a User ID and Password that you will remember.
To change your User ID and/or Password, go to the Personal Profile page in the Account Center and click Update Personal Information. Then click Change User ID and Password. First enter your current Password, then create your new User ID and new Password.

To ensure that your account is secure, you are the only one who knows your password. If you have forgotten it, you will need to create a new one. Go to the Account Center page and click on "Forgot your password?" to reset your Account Center password. You will be required to enter some personal information as a security precaution.
- I can't remember my user ID. What should I do?
If you can't remember your user ID, you can always sign in using your Discover® Card account number—even after you've customized your user ID. Once you're logged in, you can go to Personal Profile and create a new user ID.

Yes, just type your account number into the user ID field without using any spaces or dashes. It should look like this: 6011000000000000.

log into the Account Center and go to Personal Profile where you can update your user ID and password as well as your billing address and e-mail address.
- Can you help me choose a user ID and password?
Yes, your user ID and password should be something that others can't guess but is easy for you to remember without writing it down. It's a good idea to use something personal that only you would know.
You should also consider:
Using a combination of letters and numbers, but avoid having numbers at the beginning or the end
Avoiding dictionary words, family or pet names, your birthday, your anniversary or your social security number
Using a word you can remember, but replace some of the letters with numbers (e.g., s1cr1t).Your user ID must be 6 to 16 characters and can contain any character found on your computer's keyboard except spaces. Your password must be 5 to 10 characters and can be any combination of letters and numbers (no "special" characters or spaces). As an added security measure, your user ID and password cannot be the same.
- If I choose a user ID instead of my account number, will my account still be secure?
Logging in with a user ID is just as safe as with your Discover Card account number, provided you choose your user ID carefully. For tips on choosing a secure user ID, see the answer to the previous question.
- What is the difference between a PIN and my Account Center password?
Your PIN is a four-digit number you use with your Discover Card at an ATM or bank to get a cash advance for your Discover Card account or to withdraw cash from your Discover Money Market Account. Your Account Center password is 5 to 10 digits, and you use it to access online Account Center services.
